Kelly Chahal

Kelly Chahal has been a community activist for more than 30 years. She has been involved in many social justice projects and continues to volunteer across multiple community organizations. Kelly is currently completing her Doctor of Social Sciences, investigating factors that contribute to and mitigate involvement in the criminal justice system, fairness, equity, and cultural diversity. Kelly was first elected to Abbotsford City Council in 2014 and currently serves as a Director on the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) board of directors and as chair of the Awards and Recognition Advisory Committee of the Council. Currently, Kelly is a member of the Peace and Reconciliation Committee at UFV and also received the Top 40 Alumni designation. Kelly has worked in criminal justice for 23 years. Having raised her son and daughter in Abbotsford, she now enjoys her time with her three grandsons. Kelly is honoured to serve her community.

Mark Warkentin

Mark Warkentin is a well-known community leader with more than 25 years of service to the City of Abbotsford. A founding partner of Linley Welwood, he serves as a managing partner and practices real estate, business, and corporate law. He is a past president of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce. For the past six years was the City's appointee to the Abbotsford Police Board. He is known for his collaborative leadership and for getting results. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and the Canadian Bar Association, holding a B.A. from the University of Saskatchewan and a J.D. from UBC Law School. His grandparents farmed in Abbotsford and Aldergrove, and his two children graduated from W.J. Mouat, followed by university.  With these deep roots, he and his wife Brenda are passionate about making Abbotsford a great place to live and work.
